Fall Fun in Vermont

Just before our anniversary, Mr. S and I spent a week visiting his family in northern Vermont.  We did lots of touristy things and had a great time!

We started our touristy adventure at Cold Hollow Cider Mill, where we saw cider being made, browsed their (amazing) shop, and I got hot apple cider and an apple cider donut!

I was a happy camper with my cider and my donut!

We wandered around the town of Stowe for a while, and then stopped at Rock Art Brewery in Morrisville, where I made Mr. S do a tasting because I couldn’t!

We finished our long day at the Ben and Jerry’s factory! I couldn’t try the free sample because it had cherry in it… one of the few things I am allergic to.  (Mr. S thought it was really funny – in a sad way – that the sample of the day happened to be something I could not eat…)  But I did try one of their Greek Yogurt flavors –the blueberry vanilla graham – and it was quite yummy!

Later in the week, we went apple picking!  The apple crop in Vermont is down 50% this season because of an early warming and late frost, combined with a dry season, so we didn’t pick as many as we planned to, but did buy an extra bag that was pre-picked for us.

Most of the apples were high up in the trees, so Mr. S had to get the pole picker!

We also spent a lot of time with family, including both of Mr. S’s grandmas, and Mr. S’s Mom invited some family members over for a casual baby shower!  We had desserts – including a pie from the place that did our wedding cake and pies – and we all sat around and talked and I opened presents.  (Mr. S opened the cards for me.)  Everyone was so nice and generous!  We got lots and lots of cute clothes and some really soft blankets along with other cute stuff (all of which I will show you in a later post).

On the right is a 4-foot tall bag that was filled with clothes of different sizes and blankets!
