We hit 7 months at 30 weeks. We are 10 weeks away from our “guess date,” but only 6 weeks away from when our midwives encourage us to have everything ready prepared (I think this is good since I can then spend the last month or so relaxing and just doing maintenance cleaning, etc. Our last appointment was at 29 weeks, 6 days (everything was great!), and we are now going back every two weeks. The months also move faster now – the chart that I use to figure out months of pregnancy has the longer months (5-6 weeks) in the 2nd trimester.
This past month was Christmas, we traveled to Connecticut to visit my family, and we had more family visit over New Years. It was fun, but exhausting. I am still recovering. I have started “nesting” – cleaning and setting up the house for baby. But I am feeling quite a bit bulkier than I was before, and moving in certain ways is not comfortable, so I’ve been enlisting help from Mr. S. Luckily, Mr. S also roped in his parents while they were visiting, so they helped us move some furniture and put boards on our open stairs. (See our changing station in the picture behind me!) I am slowly getting through organizational tasks that I have been meaning to do since we moved here in April. Hopefully, I will be able to put together a short post on my nesting activities soon. I am also feeling inspired to do more projects for K, so I’ve been keeping busy!
Baby’s Heart Rate: 138 at our appointment at 29 weeks, 6 days
Total Weight Gain: +24 lbs
Fundal Height (belly measurement): 32 cm at 29 weeks, 6 days (This is on the big side of normal as fundal height is usually equal to the number of weeks pregnant, plus or minus 2.)
Cravings: Sweet things. Probably because the holidays just ended and I’m coming off of a sugar high…
What I have been Eating: I am hungry a lot, but find it harder to eat. I definitely have to do more frequent, smaller meals now.
Exercise: My walks have been getting shorter, because of the weather (and I am just so tired), but I have been getting in a couple a week. I am doing belly dancing several times a week and the occasional strength training workout. I have also been doing my “pregnancy exercises,” which are really stretches.
Sleep: I have been waking up in the middle of the night again and finding it hard to go back to sleep. Between that and normal pregnancy fatigue, I am really tired. I am trying to take a nap during the day when I can – I sleep in K’s bed while she has “quiet time” in her room (with the gate on the door, so she can’t escape).
Baby Movement: He has slowed down a bit, but I think that’s because he’s got less room. I still feel him everywhere, though.
Baby Position: He is still all over the place. He likes to hang out in transverse position – I can often feel him on both sides. He was head-down for our last appointment with the midwives, though.
Symptoms: I am really really tired. Heartburn is back, but not constant and is still not as bad as I remember it being with K. I have had some lower back pain and some round ligament pain, but I have been going back to the chiropractor and wearing a pregnancy belt that she recommended, which definitely helps.
Birth Preparation: Hypnobabies – listening to “Joyful Pregnancy Affirmations” every day, listening to a hypnosis track a couple times a week and doing hypnosis scripts with Mr. S a couple times a week. Belly dancing a few times a week – I try to do this in my room while diffusing calming essential oils and making the “ambiance” I will want during labor.
What I miss: Maybe sleep? But I know that won’t be happening for a while… And not feeling so bulky. It is definitely feeling harder to move around.
What I’m Loving: Feeling baby kick inside me. It’s one of those things I know I will really miss when he is outside me. I am also feeling good in my skin. I am finding it easier to embrace my body while pregnant as I know it is doing a miraculous thing.
What I’m looking forward to: Preparing the house for baby and taking time to relax. Also, K can do so much more now, and we are having so much fun!
