Third Pregnancy: 5 Month Update

Here is my 5 month update for Sprout! (My nickname for baby # 3) I am rather low energy at this point, and still not feeling great – especially in the morning and evening. But I am feeling much better than I was in the first trimester, and am back to doing much of my normal routine.

Baby is the Size of: a banana. About 10.5 oz, 10 inches head to heel.

Baby’s Heart Rate: 148 at 21 weeks, 1 day

Total Weight Gain: 11 lbs

Inches Gained: About 10 inches(!)

Cravings: Cereal

What I have been Eating: For Breakfast almost every day, I have runny fried eggs with sauteed greens and bacon, sometimes over bread or half of a bagel. My go-to snacks right now are fresh mozzarella with olive oil and salt, and whole milk yogurt, sometimes with Paleo granola. I have been having cereal as dessert and treats!

Exercise: Have done exercise DVDs a few times – I need to be more consistent!

Maternity Clothes: I definitely look more pregnant now. The few non-maternity pieces have been put away, with the exception of my jeans, which I wear over leggings as “snow-pants” – they don’t even come close to closing, but they’re over leggings, so it’s ok.

Sleep: Inconsistent. Some nights good, other bad nights. I had a week or so where I was so itchy everywhere in the middle of the night, it would wake me and keep me up for hours. Ice packs seem to be the best remedy for it. I have since increased my oil intake (both supplement and on food) and it seems to have helped.

Baby Movement: Starting to feel more movement, especially when I lay down right after eating. It’s so exciting!!

Symptoms: Itchiness – as mentioned under sleep. I am tired all of the time – I have a tendency to wear myself out doing things… I get nauseated in the mornings until I eat and some evenings I just feel crummy.

What I miss: My energy level and not feeling generally yucky. Usually, I am feeling really good at this point in pregnancy. I am going to watch my diet and movement more and, hopefully, I will feel better.

What I’m Loving: Feeling baby move. The children’s excitement. Looking more pregnant and wearing maternity clothes.

What I’m looking forward to: Seeing baby on the ultrasound. A prenatal massage for my birthday in February. 🙂 Lots of projects to get ready for baby.
